Let me tell you, In my really tiny circle of friends, we have fought about things countless of times, we've had disagreements but in the end we all stand on the ground rule of not stepping on each others believes.
I so far haven't associated someone who disrespected me because I am a girl. I haven't had close conversations with someone one that degraded me for who I was and made me feel embarrassed for what I believed in or chose to follow. I'm not going to vent my anger here, because it's already dealt with, but I've reached the peak point of telling people that they shouldn't be involved in trying to mold someone out of their opinions, because honestly, no one has the time for that sort of negative energy.
Does a woman/girl want to be a feminist ? Let them be. That's their right and belief. We need different people with different conspiracies or opinions for this world to be a less crappy place.
Does a man want to be a feminist ? LET THEM. It doesn't make him less of a man, just like you don't have to be black to protest for #BLM (Black Lives Matter)
I have seen countless "memes" that low-key make a joke out of it and some people share it around so they can slowly muck up how someone else feel about the topic. Shame.
"Feminists when they realize that than oxygen is not spelt "oxxygen"
"Feminists when they realize that mentos is not "womentos"
"Feminists when they realize that Manhattan is not "womanhattan"
I wish I could force a laugh but I really can't.
For some it might be really funny! true. Because different types of people, have a different sense of humor, sure, but that's just sad. Not because it isn't exactly funny but because you're just showing what kind of a man/woman you are by sharing these sort of things. Because memes are NOT supposed to degrade humans as a whole. We have no requirement to bring femininity here but sexist jokes really are boring. And you might even say I'm overreacting because 'pft she says she's not a feminist but just look at her whole rant and what she has written'
No.
I have written this because we have literally passed an era where women weren't allowed to vote. To speak out. To educate themselves. So I think I'm thankful to whoever who had the "masculinity" to do the necessary.
"Feminists when they realize that 'mankind' is not "womankind"
I still don't see what's funny about it because I've met some feminists in my life and has never complained about the spelling issues. So why are ya'll worried about it? At least feminists are out there doing their thing and what are you doing?
During the protests of #BLM a footage displayed a woman holding a sign board which said "I might be a woman and nothing bad has happened to me but I can't stay at home knowing my black brothers are murdered, I'm feminist like that"
The second footage showed a woman wearing a white shirt and on it, it said "If the police shoot, any black sister/brother can come and stand behind me"
And I think that's true audacity to show emotions like that. To be vulnerable, yet strong. To keep fighting for what's right even when the actions are taken for a joke. Now has this post become a question about bravery? no this is not about it. It's about respect. Every parent has to educate their children about common courtesy that could go a really long way. But this gets to come from good family backgrounds and values and you have to take a step back and sometimes think 'it is what it is' when ever someone mocks you for being you.And if things like Feminism or Racism or random 'protests for basic human rights' pisses you off even though it has nothing against you, you need to understand this world doesn't need more people like that. What we need are people who do small things that cause a huge difference. It's basically butterfly effect.
"Feminists when they realize that equality means doing equal work- *shocked*"
Third strike and still couldn't stifle a laugh, because some men/women/transgenders are genuinely trying. Some even work twice as hard and has bigger dreams than some mindsets can handle.
This ISN'T about feminism or racism, it's about helping one another and lifting each other up, even when our thoughts don't match and we aren't on the same side. We are all going through something so lets be kind because it doesn't cost you to be nice.
"Well life isn't fair"
Everyone knows. If it was, we wouldn't be talking about this. Just don't showoff any knowledge that you have about cultural and social issues if you truly don't know the depths of what's causing them. Sometime's it's really nice to mind your own business and not put others down for a change. Try it and see what I mean.
